     An interactive notebook is a tool students use to make connections prior to new learning, to revise their thinking, and to deepen their understandings of the world around them.  It is the culmination of a student's work throught the year that shows both the content learned (input) and the reflective knowledge (output) gained.  Put another way...in interactive notebook provides a space where students may take what is inside their brains, lay it out, make meaning, apply it, and share it with their peers, parents, and teachers.  (Marcarelli, K., 2010). 

1.  The Unit Cover page

2.  The AHA Connections page

3.  Input and Output page  (Input is on the right side and includes observations, data, and results of investigations, labs, articles, etc.  The Output page is on the left and includes reflections and higher orders thinking skills  HOTS!!)

4.  Self-Reflection Page  (at the end of each unit, minimum of 5 paragraph reflective paper about their work during the unit)

5.  The AHA Connections Thesis Page--(multi-paragraph, formal paper where students generate a thesis based on the work done during the unit.  More information will be provided after the unit)
